Legal Counsel (Retail Services) - German Speaking



Job Description


The successful Legal Counsel will be able to quickly prioritize legal issues, helping our business achieve their goals while minimizing risk. The Legal Counsel will negotiate and draft a wide range of contracts in support of the company’s retail businesses. This position will anticipate business needs and legal developments and advise business management on the legal implications.

Your playing field:

Will consist of…

  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating franchise contracts and supplementary agreements with our Franchisees
  • Drafting warning letters and terminations of franchise partners
  • Checking due diligence documents as well as necessary shop documents (such as building permissions, rental agreements, etc.) according to legal regulation and internal processes
  • Preparing various legal documents in coordination with the Legal and Compliance departments inclusive of contracts, legal opinions and license related documents
  • Contributing to the preparation and establishment of internal policies, directives and instructions
  • Following jurisprudence and cases handled by external lawyers, analyse the jurisdiction and prepare updates for the retail teams
  • Taking responsibility for a wide range of regulatory matters regarding the retail business (licences, permissions, project overviews, betting offers, etc.)
  • Keep abreast of AML/regulatory changes, especially regarding the German licencing process
  • Provide support in data privacy related matters for the retail business



Qualifications


Which skills should you bring to the pitch:

  • Strong background in accounts receivable and debt collections
  • German qualified lawyer or qualified lawyer in another European German speaking country
  • German native speaker with English to a business standard is a must
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a law firm, especially dealing with contract, company, competition and administrative law
  • Experience in AML and data privacy law is an asset
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to plan workload, having a pragmatic approach
  • Delivering high standard results in a fast-paced working environment independently but also in a team
  • Support the Head of Retail Services & Legal Affairs in all legal and regulatory matters
