AIxIA: Navigating opportunities and challenges of AI Assistants

Transforming Business Processes and Building Trust

Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing every industry, fundamentally altering how businesses function and compete. While AI Assistants are on everyone's lips, and have proven their ability to answer complex questions about data and documents, how can they help you in your business, and what pitfalls should you avoid at all costs? And in this context, can you put trust in AI for your business? This event brings together experts and practitioners to explore the transformative potential of AI of modern enterprises.

Workshop - "AI Assistants: How specialized systems can revolutionize business processes"

The workshop held by Stefan Suwelack and Daniel Klitzke from Renumics will explore the advanced capabilities of specialized AI assistants using Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) technology. Unlike generic AI models like ChatGPT or Co-Pilot 365, RAG systems offer tailored support by adapting to specific company documents, terminology, and data structures, enabling high-quality support for business processes. You will gain insights into the core principles of RAG and learn how these systems are already enhancing processes such as technical support, sales, and machine data analysis. Finally, the technology's limitations, best practices for implementation, and future-proof entry points into AI-powered assistance will be discussed.

RoundTable - "You Shall Not Lie! Trustworthiness in times of GenAI"

Join Jens Beyer from LAVRIO.solutions and Robin Weitemeyer from Hochschule Karlsruhe (HKA) for an in-depth discussion on the challenges of trust in the age of Generative AI. As AI increasingly becomes a preferred tool over traditional search engines, the issue of false yet convincing information remains unresolved. In the meantime, it seems to have a downward trend in the acceptance of AI systems. This discussion session will explore a use case from the Kompetenzzentrum KARL and address critical questions such as: How can we build trust in AI? Is it possible to explain and fact-check large language models? Together, we will brainstorm strategies to improve the reliability and acceptance of AI systems.

About the KARL competence centre

KARL is currently one of eleven regional competence centres investigating the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the world of learning and work. The aim of KARL is to design human-centred, transparent, AI-supported work and learning systems that are conducive to learning and to make them demonstrable in concrete practical applications.

The Karlsruhe region, with its national digital hub for applied AI and one of the leading IT clusters in Europe, offers great potential for development in this area. Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences is the consortium leader. In addition to nine research and transfer partners, eleven regional companies are also project partners. KARL is being funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) with almost eight million euros until 2025.

Über European Digital Innovation Hub Applied Artificial Intelligence and CyberSecurity (EDIH-AICS)

EDIH-AICS is a European project that aims to strengthen and promote artificial intelligence and cyber security in the areas of production, mobility, energy, trade and services as well as in municipalities throughout Europe. It is funded by the Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) of the European Union under grant agreement number 101083994. The project activities of EDIH-AICS take place over a period of 36 months with the participation of a total of ten partners from the TechnologieRegion Karlsruhe.
