Quantum Computing Workshop

We are pleased to invite you to our forthcoming annual quantum computing workshop "Translating Quantum Models into Industrial Value". In this workshop we will have a hands on session with quantum computing access being provided by IQM.

Quantum computers with 50 or more high-fidelity qubits are now a reality, opening up new possibilities in computational science. However, the practical use of quantum computers remains challenging and requires careful consideration of both hardware and algorithms.

Currently, the majority of large-scale quantum computing experiments have focused on solving quantum mechanical models - such as the Ising, Heisenberg and Fermi-Hubbard models - due to their fundamental role in physics and their suitability for quantum hardware. Our workshop will cover state-of-the-art techniques for simulating such models on quantum computers.

However, our main goal goes further: we want to bridge the gap between these quantum models and impactful real-world applications. Beyond the technical aspects of model simulation, the workshop will explore how such fundamental models can be meaningfully connected to important scientific and industrial use cases, and how quantum simulation capabilities can be translated into tangible value for various sectors.

To reflect these goals, our workshop will be divided into two parts:

  1. In the first part, we will mainly have presentations on how to connect these quantum models to broader use cases in science or industry. We will also show specific spin and Hubbard models motivated by clear goals in materials science.
  2. During the second part we will have a hands-on session where participants can show and demonstrate methods and quantum algorithms that can be used to solve industry-relevant quantum models.

A detailed agenda will be provided on our webpage and via e-mail.

This workshop is free of charge and will be held on-site (in person).
Please note: Accommodation and travel are not included and must be arranged by participants, Lunch and coffee breaks are included.
